So, you’ve had your initial consultation with our specialist behavioural optometrist, Dr Michael Christians. The next stage is to begin the therapeutic journey with prism glasses. You might have already brought along some glasses frames that you like to the consultation, but if you haven’t, we have a comprehensive array of glasses frames for you to choose from.
We have all manner of glasses frames, from the subtle and classic to the colourful and creative. Once you select a frame, the right lenses are also chosen for your prism glasses by Dr Christian. Your new prism glasses are ready for collection 1 to 2 weeks after your initial appointment. During the collection consultation, an important adjustment called a prismatic integration process takes place which will help your body to adapt to your new prism glasses.
Prism glasses are a technological advance in optometry that involves the theories of Quantum Ophthalmic Optics. Opening the discipline of optometry to the quantum field dramatically increases the possibilities and solutions that optometry can provide. Couple this with the scientifically proven theory of neuroplasticity and things really get interesting.
Neuroplasticity posits that the brain’s cells can be renewed, changed, joined and arranged into new patterns. This malleability of the brain’s neural pathways means that new pathways can be written into the brain with repeated use. This ability allows new skills to be learnt – for example, the eye muscles can learn to see with better vision as they get stronger.
We have a large assortment of glasses frames that can be used with prism glasses lenses. If you’re not sure what lenses you need, book in for an appointment with our behavioural optometrist today. Call us on (03) 9824 5431 or send us a message online.
